On the inside, the first job was to clean, clean and clean some more.  The comments on the booking sites had been correct, with the overall condition being ‘disgusting’.  It took around 4 weeks of intensive work by our wonderful housekeepers but it was achieved.  Just cleaning the rooms made a massive difference but when we changed the bed covers, lights and pictures which we sent to a charity, people thought we had renovated all the rooms.

We did renovate 3 rooms.  Replacing the wall tiles that had been put up by one of the previous owners with plaster board was the first move.  Then changing the carpet and completely ripping out the bathrooms and re-tiling, adding a new basin, toilet and shower. We removed the 2-seater lounges that took up so much space and replaced them with tub chairs allowing extra space around the bed. We pulled out the tired bench and replaced with a simple cupboard/kitchenette and put up curtains to soften the space.

Although the other rooms were left in their original state, we treated them to new furnishings, pictures and a carpet clean.  There are still many things to do in the rooms like replacing the old air-conditioners, showers and vanities, new fridges etc. but we’re getting there and at least they’re clean.
